There are a number of national holidays in Ukraine which are celebrated with gusto. Unlike in some other countries, most of these days have been enjoyed for centuries and there are long-standing customs which are followed as part of the celebrations. Many Ukraine national holidays are a time to wear costumes and celebrate the day with much rejoicing. This makes them a colorful feast for the eyes and definitely worth seeing. Christmas, Whitsunday are non-business religious holidays – something worth remembering if you’re planning to do some shopping or attempting to make business arrangements. Public holidays in Ukraine - a historically significant date in the development of Ukraine as an independent state and significant historical dates of events that took place before the Day of Independence of Ukraine. Ukrainians have historical roots in very different countries and cultures, often at odds with one another - Muscovy and Lithuania with Poland, Russian Empire and Austria-Hungary. Hence the lack of social consolidation and territorial split between different parts of the Ukraine (Crimea, Donbass, Kyiv region, Galicia, Transcarpathia), and diversity celebrated and beloved holidays. In Ukraine, there are representatives of many nationalities, including Ukrainians, 78% of the population, 17% Russian, but live here Belarusians, Moldovans, Jews, Poles, Bulgarians, Hungarians, Tartars, Greeks and others. The main places of resettlement of Ukrainians are central, western and northern regions of Ukraine. The smallest of the Ukrainians living in the southeastern and southern regions. Ukrainians profess basically different areas of Christianity, most of them - the Orthodox, most Catholics, Protestants big role here. Weekend, "red days" in the Ukraine are public holidays, as well as some "folk" and the church. However, their notions of people on holidays and there are those that have been reported everywhere and always, but not a holiday in the truest sense of the word.Ukraine recognizes eight public holidays on an annual basis. Not all holidays are celebrated in style, but there are those which have a special place in the hearts of many Ukrainians. All religious holidays are set according to the Julian calendar so they are quite easy to follow. It is a law in Ukraine that if a particular holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, then the following Monday is an official holiday. This means that the people of Ukraine still get their well-deserved rest even if celebrations take place during the weekend.
